Click to Enlarge		 In early 1998, B.J. Yu (current president of Palm Coal U.S.A. Inc. and Pusan Plaza Supermarket) met Myung Kim who invented "Palmcoal" (charcoal made out of palm tree nutshells). Mr. Kim asked B.J. to test out the ¡°Palmcoal¡± and B.J. only used six small pieces of the charcoal to BBQ. Based on the BBQ test, B.J. Yu was very impressed at the quality of "Palmcoal" and was astounded by its abilities.
As much as 6 people could enjoy barbequing for almost 2 hours with only 6 pieces of the "Palmcoal". As a businessman, B.J. Yu saw this as an opportunity and then started researching the BBQ industry and found out that the BBQ industry was a major part of the consumer market.
B.J. Yu personally likes to barbeque but realistically does not BBQ much due to the concept of setting up and cleaning up afterwards. In concentrating on the public¡¯s unwillingness or resentfulness to clean up afterwards, in 1998 B.J. Yu requested Mr. Myung Kim to make a "Disposable BBQ Grill" using the "Palmcoal" and a fire-starter that was built in so that the barbequing public can enjoy their barbeque without the hassles of setting up or cleaning up. In making the "Disposable BBQ Grill", it took B.J. Yu and Mr. Kim over 2 years. Since then many other disposable BBQ grill products are in the market that have failed before, due to the lack of efficiency both Mr. Yu and Mr. Kim wanted to create a product that is effective and convenient but also successful.
Although the product is a one-time use only (disposable) product, it is useless unless the product works at camping or picnic areas, backyard and tailgate parties.
Finally in 2000, the "Disposable BBQ Grill" made with "Palmcoal" charcoal was ready for the retail market together with the US Patent and UPC codes already issued in the US.
Presently in 2001, Palm Coal U.S.A. Inc. is strongly marketing the product by attending trade shows, sending samples to major mass markets, major chain stores and contacting consulting, marketing groups.
